Frequently Asked Questions
How many treatments are necessary?
To see lasting results, it is recommended between 3 to 6 treatments. Individual results vary.
What does the treatment feel like?
It feels like a really light snap with an elastic band against your skin, or like if someone lightly flicked you, as the applicator moves around the treatment area. The good news is that our equipment has a cooling tip of - 8 degrees celcius which helps to soften the flicking feeling or alleviate discomfort.
How long is the downtime?
The downtime can last up to 2 weeks. This includes 'coffee grind' like texture on the skin, flaking, and in some extreme cases, hiving and blisters may occur.
What should I do with my skin post-treatment?
Be sure to keep your skin cool for at least 48 hours and avoid anything that create heat (such as hot showers, saunas, going to the gym, the sun, etc). Be sure to apply Vitamin E ointment or a product specified by your Medical Aesthetician. Sunscreen is a must.
I have darker skin, can I still get this treatment done?
Skin rejuvenation (Photofacial) treatments work best for light to medium skin tones. The treatment may work on darker skin, but there is a higher risk of discolouration because darker skin has more pigment in it. It’s best to consult with the medical aesthetician to see if the treatment is right for you.
What do I need to do before this treatment?
Make sure your skin is clean. Do not apply any lotions, creams or makeup before your session, and stop using any products that might irritate your skin 2-3 days before. You must also avoid any tanning, including self-tanners.
How long do the results last and are they permanent?
It really depends on how your skin reacts to the treatment and how you care for your skin afterward. For example, if you protect your skin from the sun, the results will last longer. We recommend one touch-up session every 3-6 months, depending on how your skin responds to the treatment.
How will I feel after my treatment?
Your skin may feel warm, like a sunburn, and can remain red for anywhere from a few hours to two weeks.
